New this Year! The Texas State Aquarium will open its fifth special exhibit on March 11, 2005. AMAZON explores the diversity of the species found in this area, our connections with the animals and products of the rainforests, and the need to preserve this unique natural resource.
When you enter the dark interior of the AMAZON exhibit your senses will come alive with the sights and sounds of native drums, exotic birds, and thrashing piranhas. You will experience the diverse wildlife of the rainforest: macaws, parrots, aracaris, poison dart frogs, piranha, freshwater stingrays, lizards, and snakes such as boa constrictors and anacondas. Also tarantulas and amphibians will crawl through AMAZON.
"Live animal encounters" will feature snakes, parrots and a prehensile-tailed porcupine. Keepers will personally introduce you to these animals, sharing interesting facts about the animal and about the mysterious rainforest. |
